Institutional members are invited to participate in the Pediatric Sedation Research Consortium (PSRC), the multi-institutional research arm of the SPS that maintains a detailed sedation database from which robust pediatric sedation research is conducted and on which many of the leading pediatric sedation publications are based. The database has generated numerous peer reviewed publications and many more abstracts that have been presented at national and international meetings.
Critical to the continued development of the emerging field of pediatric sedation is the need for continued data collection and research into practice patterns and performance. This valuable research challenges dogma, establishes enhanced understanding of excellence, and fosters optimization of pediatric sedation care. All faculty, staff, fellows, and residents at member institutions may access data (with Research Committee approval) and collaborate on research projects.
The PSRC database also functions as the basis for pediatric sedation performance benchmarking.
Platinum Institutional Members receive customized and detailed Quality Assurance reports, which include the following:
- Peer Group (Specialty) Comparisons with institutions of similar size.
- Institutional Comparisons with all participating hospitals and providers.
- Statistical analysis and breakdown of measured patient variables, pharmacologic agents employed, and adverse event type/frequency in comparison to institutions of similar size, all participating institutions, and specialty of sedation providers.
Platinum Institutional Members are granted full access to all of the educational products of the SPS, including the SPS Provider Course which provides comprehensive exposure to pediatric sedation through didactic presentations, small group discussions, and hi-fidelity simulation.
Many member institutions use this course internally for education, training and credentialing. Other institutions choose to become a regional provider of the course (operating costs and faculty will be the responsibility of the local institution). Platinum members also receive discounted access to the Zier Group nitrous oxide educational modules. Up to 10 providers per year can take advantage of this excellent training benefit.
